HPV Vaccine Impact in Denmark

Denmark has nearly eliminated infections with HPV types 16 and 18, the leading causes of cervical cancer, since the introduction of the vaccine in 2008. A nationwide study indicates that even unvaccinated women are benefiting from reduced HPV prevalence due to population immunity. The findings suggest a need to reassess cervical cancer screening guidelines as vaccinated cohorts reach screening age.
