Anubis

Anubis is a hybrid art project and network countermeasure that weighs the souls of HTTP requests to protect the web from AI crawlers. It challenges visitors to solve computational problems that are easy for machines but difficult for humans, similar to cryptocurrency mining, to limit access to bots.

The main focus is on the effectiveness of Anubis as a web countermeasure against AI crawlers. One user noted, "the point is that they hadn’t, and this worked for quite a while."

Another recurring theme in the discussion is the skepticism regarding the actual effectiveness of such measures. Another user mentions, "these steps can be trivially and cheaply automated," highlighting concerns about the ease with which bots can circumvent these challenges.
