Midnight Commander

Manage files efficiently with Midnight Commander, a visual, dual-pane file manager. It allows users to copy, move, and delete files, search for files, and execute commands in a subshell. Ideal for users who prefer a text-mode interface, it includes an internal viewer, editor, and diff viewer, and works seamlessly in various terminal environments.

Users expressed a strong preference for Midnight Commander, highlighting its efficiency and ease of use. One user noted, "It's so much more efficient/pleasant when it comes to navigating the filesystem."

Another recurring theme in the discussion was nostalgia for older file managers like Norton Commander. Another user reflects, "I get nostalgic for Norton Commander... but the reality of how I use computers today is very different."
