Hypercritical: Hyperspace

Hyperspace is a Mac app that helps users reclaim disk space by converting duplicate files into clones that share a single instance of data on disk, utilizing the advanced features of the Apple File System (APFS). It offers a free scan to see potential savings, with a paid option to actually reclaim the space.

The discussion revolves around the functionality and limitations of the Hyperspace app for reclaiming disk space using APFS clones. One user commented, "It hasn’t destroyed any of my own data," highlighting the importance of data safety when using such tools.

Another recurring theme in the discussion is the desire for a more transparent process in deduplication. Another user notes, "Why would I buy the app if I have no idea if it'll help?" emphasizing the need for clarity on the app's effectiveness before making a purchase.
