bitchat

bitchat is a secure, decentralized, peer-to-peer messaging app that operates over Bluetooth mesh networks. It requires no internet, servers, or phone numbers, providing pure encrypted communication.

The conversation revolves around a decentralized messaging concept inspired by Apple's Find My network. One user suggests, "Basically, a 'postal network' built on people’s phones," emphasizing the potential for device-to-device communication without traditional internet reliance.

Another recurring theme in the discussion is the challenge of user adoption for such technologies. Another user notes, "Doesn't really get any downloads, so not sure there’s much demand for this," highlighting concerns about the practicality and market viability of decentralized messaging solutions.
